Apply for Funding for Project Development from Media & Democracy

Got a project idea but lack the resources to take it to the next level? In 2025, Media & Democracy is offering financial support for the development of innovative project concepts.

The aim of this project development grant is to foster more research and innovation initiatives focused on strengthening the media landscape and democracy. This funding provides a unique opportunity for quick financing to explore an idea's relevance and design a robust project. The initiative is run in collaboration with the Hamrin Foundation, one of Media & Democracy's key funders.

To be considered for funding, project ideas must meet several fundamental criteria:

• The idea must align with Media & Democracy's core mission and focus.
• The purpose of the idea must be for the public good.
• Any potential future research and innovation project must be conducted in collaboration with Media & Democracy.
• Results must be publicly presentable.
• Funding is exclusively available to professional actors with an organizational registration number.

This grant targets a broad audience of researchers, businesses, and societal actors. This includes researchers eager to develop new knowledge and innovative solutions in partnership with business or societal organizations, or conversely, business or societal actors looking to achieve similar goals through research collaborations.

Here’s how to apply for project development funding:

1. Initial Contact: Reach out to Media & Democracy through the form below or by emailing martin.holmberg@lindholmen.se. Briefly describe your core idea.
2. Assessment: Based on your initial idea and, potentially, a verbal pitch, Media & Democracy will assess if the idea aligns with the platform's profile and is suitable for collaboration.
3. Invitation to Apply: If the assessment is positive, you will be invited to submit a full application for funding to explore and develop your idea further.
4. Funding Period: If approved, the maximum funding period for this development work is six months. The ultimate goal is for this initial idea development to culminate in a comprehensive project application.
5. Future Project Funding: It's important to note that applications for the full-scale implementation of a project should be directed to various external funders, not to Media & Democracy. This project development grant is exclusively for refining an idea and preparing a project proposal.
