TrustEd Future
Project owner: Voice4You
The project idea, TrustEd Future, aims to develop models for collaboration between schools and media organizations. The goal is to strengthen young people's source-critical abilities, their trust in journalism, and their engagement in societal issues through media production. A central objective is to contribute new knowledge to the education sector, media, and policymakers through a research study, focusing on the effects of youth media production in the classroom within a Swedish context.
Voice4You, comprising journalists Jenny Sköld and Lotta Bergseth, has received Media & Democracy's project development grant to advance this idea.
"With TrustEd Future, we want to show how schools and media can collectively strengthen young people's source-critical abilities, trust in journalism, and engagement in societal issues. Through this project, we aim to develop new research-based knowledge on how youth media production in schools can enhance source trust, democratic resilience, and local media's relationship with young people. In this way, the project can also contribute to a more resilient society."
During this preliminary study, Voice4You will identify and connect with potential partners within Sweden's media and school sectors. They will also engage researchers and other relevant stakeholders. Furthermore, they will prepare applications for project funding and identify potential financing models to contribute to the project's long-term sustainability, as well as map the needs and resources of media organizations and schools.
- The preliminary study, TrustEd Future, is scheduled to run from May to October 2025.
